Mailchimp has made their automation tools available to all Mailchimp users. This is a fantastic step for businesses that are still using the Free Mailchimp service. You can read the Mailchimp announcement here.
Why is automation important? I think the ‘backstory’ for the announcement says a lot:
At MailChimp, our mission has always been to help small businesses grow by democratizing powerful marketing tools that are often reserved for large enterprises.
Automation empowers our customers to create sophisticated campaigns that help them compete with bigger companies, but we know that not everyone has a large list or the budget to upgrade to a paid account when they first get started. Small businesses look to MailChimp to help them build their brand, and we want to give everyone—no matter their account type or list size—the opportunity to use our marketing automation tools to do just that.
I’ve been using Mailchimps Automations for myself and my clients for a long while and one of the biggest benefits I’ve found is managing the list size. Using automation tools, it’s possible to use list segmentation to target different automation campaigns to different types of customers or prospects. This not only saves on not having duplicate emails on your lists, it also allows you to move people through your marketing and client care follow ups as they move from being prospects to customers.
I’ve used a number of different email marketing tools for myself and my clients and I keep coming back to Mailchimp as the best value for money tool and with this move, Mailchimp has made it even more cost effective for small businesses to get their feet under them.
