Todays podcast has been inspired by a question asked by Marg Saunders about how to add a Youtube Video to a HTML page, and then add it to a newsletter.

There are several steps to the process – and I’ve created the video below to help clarify them

[powerpress]

Steps to add the video to your webpage:

1. From the Youtube Screen, click on the Share Link (just under the video)
2. Click on the Embed button, and copy the code in the embed box.
3. Paste that code into the html of your webpage, exactly where you want your video to appear.
4. Upload your webpage and view it.

Adding the video to a newsletter:

1. Add the thumbnail image of the video to your newsletter.  To get the thumbnail image, you will use the link:
https://img.youtube.com/vi/<<uniqueyoutubeid>>/0.jpg
2. To get the <<uniqueyoutubeid>>, go to the Youtube video and copy the text in the url that appears after the v=, but before the & ie (the text that appears as bold and underlined in the link below):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeC1dmqJjeA&feature=youtu.be
3. Add an image to your newsletter, if you send a HTML newsletter by using the resulting link.  For the example above:
https://img.youtube.com/vi/AeC1dmqJjeA/0.jpg
4. Add a link to that image to take people to the page you created above so they can view the video.
