It feels like you’re always working. You’re down to the wire on all of your deadlines, you eat two out of three daily meals over your keyboard, your family members have stopped asking you to spend time with them on the weekends and in spite of it all, you still don’t manage to get any further ahead with your projects.

To put it frankly, you’re tired and you’re at the point where you’re desperate to find a better way. The better way is outsourcing.

Outsourcing means looking at your task list and finding items that you don’t necessarily need to be doing yourself and then partnering with a service provider to do those tasks for you.

Outsourcing means getting help with getting ahead. It means taking time to find a support partner you can trust with your business and letting that person do what you ask. It doesn’t mean hiring a part-time employee that you go on to micromanage. It allows you to focus on what you do best (and what brings in the bacon) and leave the rest to someone else.

Think about it for a minute. If you can’t develop your own website, you have no choice but to outsource the task to a professional. But there are other components of your business you could probably delegate to a professional as well. Maybe it’s your copywriting, your telemarketing, your marketing or your office administration.

Easiest tasks to outsource

There are certain tasks you’ll find easier to outsource than others. This usually depends on the individual and the type of business you’re in but there are some tasks that are most commonly outsourced or delegated to a support partner:

·   Bookkeeping
·   Email management
·   Transcribing your handwritten notes
·   Writing blog posts
·   Customer service
·   Online shopping cart management
·   Social Media
·   Web site design and management
·   Data entry
·   Calendar management

Easier tasks to keep

The tasks you think you will have a difficult time parting with are the ones you probably should hang onto, at least in the beginning. Generally the items you like doing are the ones you should hold onto.

If you love marketing, keep it. The major benefit of outsourcing is freeing up time by getting rid of tasks you don’t enjoy, to either spend more time working on tasks you enjoy or to take some time off.

In this blog series, I will discuss the ins and outs of outsourcing in more detail, but hopefully by now you know enough to know you need to start looking for a suitable support partner!
