Happy New Year!  2011 is well underway in our household!  Planning seems to be the catch phrase for this part of the year and I’ve seen many posts and articles about New Years Resolutions and plans being made for the coming year.

What have you been doing?

Personally, I plan and review all year – but I always feel that the start of a New Year is excellent time to review what I’ve been doing and what I want to do…

This year, I decided that I needed to be a little more strategic on my marketing efforts and bought The Quirky Marketing Calendar by Heidi Richards.  I was really impressed – 315 pages of different events that a business can use to ‘spice up’ your communications and promotions!

It was quite inspiring spending a couple of hours going through and working out my marketing schedule based on the fantastic ideas in the calendar – did you that:

  • This week is Thank Your Customers and Women’s Self Empowerment Week?
  • January is Financial Wellness month?

One of the other things I ‘resolved’ to do was to be more focused on keeping my business books up to date.  Like most small business owners, I fit my bookwork in ‘when I can’ and it’s amazing just how important some of the most mundane activities become when you’re looking at doing your bookwork!

Thanks to Saasu, a regular bookkeeper and BookzKeeper – my bookwork should be much, much easier.  Saasu let’s me manage my company accounts online, my BookKeeper will do the data entry and reconcilliations and BookzKeeper will help me keep all those important documents in order for my accountant.

What plans are you making for your business this year?
