I’m quite new to internet marketing having recently attended the Sydney World Internet Summit and purchased four amazing products to supercharge me into my new business.

While the marketing aspects of the programs are exciting even if still somewhat challenging, I have found myself ready to pull my hair out in frustration at some of the technical hitches.

I read the written manuals, watched the videos, pausing them as I went and managed to make progress but due to my lack of experience, would miss an important step. Often these were very simple – when you know how – things but that have cost me many hours of pure frustration, closely followed by avoidance techniques.

I even sent messages through to the help desk. The first couple were not even answered for a week – one I didn’t know how to do what they asked me to do and the other just brushed me off to somewhere else.

And then I happened across Charly and her forum. This saved me a lot of frustration – she pulled up my partly formed website, identified the problem in a flash and emailed me with the question I needed to ask the Helpdesk to fix. That was done in a flash.

The next hurdle came and I rang and set up a one on one coaching session with Charly. By the end of that hour, I understood the steps I needed to take and had watched Charly do it while sharing screens – I’m in North Queensland and Charly is in Canberra.

I started my blog because everybody said how “simple” and “easy” it was. Up to that point I was able to manage emails, rummage around the internet and do basic word processing.

Was I in for a nasty shock! Lots of terminology I didn’t understand, concepts that didn’t make sense, things going wrong and “scrambling up” my blog…. and I had no idea how to fix it.

I had been running my podcast directory for 16 months and it wasn’t working well on the hosting account I had. The hosting helpdesk said it was my software and the software company said it was the hosting account. When I learnt that other people who used this hosting had placed their directory elsewhere and it worked fine I knew I needed to move but just didn’t know how.

My biggest concern was moving the database and all the information that the directory already contained. I had never done anything that like before. I also noticed that the directory should automatically update but it wasn’t and the information wasn’t always current so I knew it was time to change.
