Today I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 12 of the Virtual Blog Tour of author Mal Duane whose book Alpha Chick: Five Steps for Moving from Pain to Power launches on Amazon on Tuesday February 14, 2012.

Mal Duane has triumphed over devastating life challenges to become an Alpha Chick extraordinaire. After having struggled with alcoholism as a young woman, Mal now has a dream marriage, a highly-successful business, and as a certified Professional Recovery Coach, is deeply involved with helping women discover and use their connection with the divine power to redefine their lives and step away from their pain. She also serves clients through the multi-million dollar real estate company that she built from scratch. As she strongly believes in educating women, she built a school in Konjila, West Africa that educates a hundred students annually, and created Holly’s Gift, an educational assistance fund, which will receive proceeds from the sale of each copy of Alpha Chick.

Alpha Chick, Five Steps for Moving from Pain to Power is a model for any woman who dreams of having happiness, success, and fulfillment. It clearly guides the reader step-by-step in the process of becoming her own unique brand of Alpha Chick, using Mal’s simple 5-step formula for self-worth, freedom and transformation. The book is coming to Amazon on Tuesday February 14th, 2012 – Valentine’s Day. Mal says, “I chose Valentine’s Day because I wanted women to give themselves the gift of self-love on that day.”

Yesterday, Mal visited Sue Ingebretson at https://www.rebuildingwellness.com/author-mal-duane, where they talked on the subject of gratitude, journaling and recovery.

Today, I’d like to share with you a recent interview I had with Mal when I got to ask her some questions on the subject of women in business and their own personal power. I hope you enjoy it.

——-

Charly Leetham: Tell me about Women, Self Love and being in business for themselves.  What should Women consider?

Mal Duane: Self-love is a very important component to a woman’s success in her personal and private life. If we do not honor ourselves, how can we expect others to do so in the personal and business relationships we build? And if a woman doesn’t love herself, how can she sell her business (which is, in a way, selling herself)?

When we respect and love ourselves unconditionally, we also will continue to work on our personal and professional development. Someone who loves herself and sets intentions to better herself will go after the knowledge, skills and continued training to help her become better at what she does for a living.

Finally, when we love ourselves, we become better collaborators. A person who is strong and grounded can take the time to see both points of view and not feel defensive when she is criticized. Someone who loves herself is strong and does not feel the need to compete with other team members.

Charly Leetham: What about our personal power?  How does this tie in with not only own personal lives, but our business lives?

Mal Duane: Personal power is the power that comes from within, and it is authentic only to you. Women who have this power are living with purpose and passion, are creating intentions for bettering their lives and are actively working to achieve their goals, every day, day in and day out, personal and professional.

Basically, someone with personal power knows exactly what she wants and creates the map from which to navigate her life, both personally and professionally. She believes in herself, she expresses gratitude and she is prepared to respond to challenges – with a calm head and a plan to move forward.

Living in your power, is living in Faith. You validate your worth, and self-worth is the root of the tree for personal transformation.

Charly Leetham: What’s the one thing you would like Women in Business to take away from your book / story?

Mal Duane:  If you have a burning desire to do something in life, do not let anything keep you from pursuing it. We have a tendency to listen to so many people, but not necessarily ourselves. If I had listened to a family member who always judged me and criticized any steps I was taking to build my future, I would not have taken the chances I have in my life, and would not have built my business, remarried or written my book. Your own voice is what matters most. We all have the ability to discover that voice through our spiritual practice. And when you discover that voice, listen to it.
